Occasionally referred to as clip-on-dentures, implanted dentures use small posts to anchor your prosthetic teeth to your jawbone. These posts are titanium which is both durable and biocompatible. They act like the roots of your teeth, bonding with the bone we place them in.
Unlike other types of implanted prosthetics, implanted dentures are removable—the dentures clip on and off the implants. As with traditional dentures, you can take implanted dentures out for cleaning. But the most notable benefit is how much easier eating, talking, and smiling become.
THE IMPLANTED DENTURE PROCEDURE
Renowned implant surgeon Dr Hassan Maghaireh and his team will begin the process with an initial assessment of your bone density. Then, we’ll perform scans on your jawbone to decide whether you’re a good implant candidate and collect information before surgery.
If it’s been a while since you lost your natural teeth, bone loss may have already occurred. In this instance, we may recommend a bone graft or sinus lift to restore your jaw.
To support your dentures, we’ll place several implants. These will be strategically positioned across your jaw to provide maximum support across the entire arch. We’ll perform your Implant surgery while you’re under anaesthetic to ensure a pain and discomfort-free experience.
A process called osseointegration begins after implant placement. Osseointegration is when your implants fuse with the bone naturally over several months. Until the implants become rigidly connected to the bone, we’ll give you a temporary set of dentures.
A few months later, we’ll take further scans of your jaw. Once we’re satisfied with the implant’s stability, you’ll receive your final dentures.
