INVISALIGN LEEDS

THE

DISCREET AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTION

for Misaligned Teeth

Crooked teeth can impact your self-esteem. Protruding, crowded, or gappy teeth can make you feel conscious about smiling. Not only that, but your oral health is at risk.

Invisalign® is an elegant solution to straighten your teeth. Using removable clear aligners, we can straighten your teeth and give you the smile you’ve always wanted.

HOW INVISALIGN® WORKS

Unlike traditional braces, there are no brackets or wires with Invisalign®. Instead, we’ll use a series of clear, removable aligners to gently move your teeth into a better, more aesthetically pleasing position.

During your treatment, you’ll replace your bespoke aligners every couple of weeks. Each new aligner applies just the right amount of pressure on your teeth to make controlled adjustments.

Some milder cases can be treated in as little as 6 months, while typically, most adjustments take 12-18 months. To achieve the best results, you’ll need to wear your aligners as much as possible, ideally for a minimum of 22 hours each day.

WHAT CAN INVISALIGN® HELP WITH?

CLOSING THE GAP

Diastema is the gap between your teeth. These gaps can be particularly noticeable when they’re front and centre on your upper arch. Invisalign® helps close the gap by bringing your teeth closer together.

Closing gaps between your teeth will make caring for them more manageable because they can be hard to clean, making them sweet spots where plaque and tartar may form.

REDUCING OVERCROWDING

When teeth compete for space on your jaw, recurrent decay can become a problem. Not only this, but noticeably overcrowded teeth can make you self-conscious about your smile.

Invisalign® gently alters the position of your teeth by exerting just enough force. Over time, these gradual movements make a noticeable difference to the position of your teeth, giving you a smile you can feel good about.

BITE ISSUES

The position of your teeth can affect your bite and make chewing difficult and even painful. A misaligned bite can lead to pain in the jawbone and facial muscles. These can include:

THE BENEFITS OF INVISALIGN®

The innovative and removable Invisalign® aligner system is subtle. Because the aligners are made of transparent medical-grade plastic, your aligner will be virtually invisible, making it very difficult to spot them. Not only that, but your aligner is lightweight and comfortable.

Unlike fixed braces, cleaning your teeth and eating is straightforward. You can eat whatever you like without worrying about food debris and bacterial build-ups between wires and brackets.

Invisalign® works quickly. Braces require multiple adjustments, requiring long and sometimes uncomfortable appointments. With Invisalign®, your aligners will be replaced every few weeks, meaning less time spent in the dentist’s chair.

I visited Dr Hassan’s new clinic yesterday, was thoroughly impressed! It’s a superb setting with beautiful decor and lots of attention to detail! The surgery itself is outstanding and the cleanliness is second to none. Victoria was the dentist I saw and was lovely and friendly as was her assistant. I have been a client of Dr Hassan’s now for many years and have no hesitation in recommending his new surgery to anyone needing specialist dental care…

Hassan and his co-pilot Victoria are world class implant clinicians, who also teach their philosophy in their renowned teaching academy; BAIRD. This new bespoke clinic is truly outstanding and I’d have no hesitation in recommending patients in West Yorkshire and beyond to come here for their implant and aesthetic work. The clinic is easily accessible off the motorway and not far from Leeds City centre, with plenty of parking.

Having had treatment on various dental clinics due to relocating and poor service I can positively say the treatment I’ve received at Leeds Dental Clinic has been outstanding and unique. Dr Rania Omar and rest of the team had gone the extra mile to treat and better the health of my tooth…

INVISALIGN - Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign is an elegant orthodontic treatment designed to gently transform misaligned teeth into a beautifully straight smile. Using a series of clear, custom-made aligners, this innovative system gradually shifts your teeth into their ideal position, enhancing both your appearance and oral health without the need for traditional metal braces.

The Primary Goals of Invisalign Treatment

The main purpose of Invisalign is to correct dental misalignment issues while offering a discreet, comfortable alternative to conventional orthodontic methods. This advanced system works by applying precisely calculated forces to gradually move your teeth into a more harmonious arrangement, addressing both aesthetic concerns and functional problems that can affect your overall oral wellbeing.

Aesthetic Smile Enhancement

Perhaps the most immediately noticeable benefit of Invisalign is the dramatic improvement in your smile’s appearance. The aligners work to correct common aesthetic concerns such as crooked teeth, noticeable gaps between teeth (diastema), and overcrowding issues that can make you feel self-conscious. As your treatment progresses, you’ll begin to see your smile transform, with teeth becoming more evenly spaced and properly aligned, creating a naturally attractive appearance.

Functional Occlusion Improvement

Beyond cosmetic enhancements, Invisalign addresses functional aspects of your bite (occlusion) that affect how your teeth work together. The aligners can help correct various malocclusion issues, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites. These corrections not only improve the appearance of your smile but can also reduce jaw pain, improve chewing efficiency, and even make proper oral hygiene easier to maintain.

Comprehensive Smile Transformations Through Invisalign

Invisalign treatment takes a holistic approach to smile enhancement, addressing multiple aspects of dental alignment to create harmonious results that look and feel natural.

Guided Tooth Movement Precision

Using advanced 3D imaging technology, Invisalign treatment is planned with remarkable precision. Each aligner in your series is designed to make specific, calculated adjustments to the position of individual teeth. This controlled, gradual movement ensures optimal results while minimizing discomfort. The aligners apply just enough pressure to stimulate the bone remodeling process necessary for tooth movement without the excessive force that can sometimes cause discomfort with traditional braces.

Progressive Smile Evolution

As you progress through your series of aligners, typically changing to a new set every 1-2 weeks, your smile undergoes a gradual yet remarkable transformation. This step-by-step approach allows your teeth and surrounding tissues to adjust comfortably to their new positions while you witness the continuous improvement in your smile’s appearance. Many patients begin noticing positive changes within just a few months of starting treatment.

The overall goal of Invisalign is to create a smile that not only looks beautiful but functions properly and supports long-term oral health. Your dentist will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your specific dental needs and aesthetic goals, ensuring your Invisalign journey delivers the best possible results for your unique situation.

Invisalign aligners are truly bespoke dental appliances, crafted using cutting-edge technology to fit your unique dental anatomy perfectly. The creation of these custom aligners involves a sophisticated process that combines digital precision with clinical expertise to ensure optimal comfort and effectiveness for your treatment.

The Invisalign Digital Planning Process

Your Invisalign journey begins with a comprehensive consultation where your dentist will determine if this treatment is right for your specific needs. Once you decide to proceed, the creation of your custom aligners starts with capturing detailed records of your current dental condition.

Advanced Digital Imaging Technology

Rather than using traditional messy dental impressions, most Invisalign providers now use state-of-the-art intraoral scanners to create a precise digital model of your teeth and gums. This comfortable, quick scanning process captures thousands of images in just minutes, creating an extremely accurate 3D representation of your oral structures. These digital impressions provide the foundation for planning your entire treatment journey.

Customised Treatment Mapping

Using specialised software, your dentist will create a detailed treatment plan that maps out the exact movements each tooth needs to make to achieve your ideal smile. This virtual treatment plan allows you to see a simulation of how your teeth will move throughout the process and preview your expected results before treatment even begins. You’ll be able to visualise the step-by-step transformation your smile will undergo, from your current alignment to your beautifully straight final result.

Precision Manufacturing of Invisalign Aligners

Once your treatment plan is finalised, the digital information is sent to Invisalign’s manufacturing facility, where your custom aligners are created using advanced production techniques.

Medical-Grade Materials and Fabrication

Invisalign aligners are crafted from SmartTrack®, a patented thermoplastic material developed specifically for orthodontic treatment. This clear, medical-grade material is designed for comfort, durability, and optimal tooth-moving force. The manufacturing process uses CAD/CAM technology to ensure each aligner in your series is fabricated to exact specifications, with precision trimming along your gumline for maximum comfort and minimal visibility.

Quality Control and Delivery

Before your aligners are shipped to your dental practice, they undergo rigorous quality control checks to ensure they meet Invisalign’s exacting standards. Your complete series of aligners—often between 20 and 30 sets for a typical treatment—is then delivered to your dentist, ready for your fitting appointment.

The Invisalign Fitting Process

When your aligners arrive, you’ll attend a fitting appointment where your dentist will guide you through the start of your treatment journey.

Initial Aligner Placement

At this appointment, your dentist will check that your first set of aligners fits properly and comfortably. They may place small tooth-coloured attachments on specific teeth to help the aligners grip and move teeth more effectively. These attachments are made from composite resin—similar to the material used for tooth-coloured fillings—and are carefully positioned according to your treatment plan.

Your dentist will provide personalised guidance on wearing and caring for your aligners, ensuring you understand how to get the best results from your treatment. The aligner fitting process is designed to be comfortable and straightforward, with your dental team available to address any questions or concerns as you begin your journey toward a straighter, healthier smile.

Invisalign has revolutionised orthodontic treatment by offering a solution that addresses many of the concerns patients have about traditional braces. This innovative system provides a more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable experience while effectively straightening your teeth.

The Discreet Nature of Invisalign Treatment

One of the most compelling advantages of Invisalign is its nearly invisible appearance during treatment. This feature has made it particularly popular among adults and teenagers who may feel self-conscious about wearing conventional metal braces.

Transparent Aligner Technology

Invisalign aligners are crafted from SmartTrack®, a clear, medical-grade thermoplastic material that is virtually invisible when worn. Unlike the metallic appearance of traditional braces, these transparent aligners blend naturally with your teeth, making them difficult to detect during everyday interactions. This discretion allows you to maintain your confidence while smiling, speaking, and laughing throughout your treatment journey.

Aesthetic Advantages in Social and Professional Settings

For many patients, particularly professionals or those in public-facing roles, the subtle nature of Invisalign provides significant social and career benefits. The ability to straighten your teeth without drawing attention to your orthodontic treatment can be invaluable during important presentations, meetings, or social events. This discreet quality means you can continue to make positive first impressions without the potential distraction of visible braces.

Enhanced Comfort of Invisalign Aligners

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, Invisalign aligners offer substantial comfort advantages over traditional orthodontic approaches, making the treatment experience more pleasant overall.

Smooth Design and Custom Fit

Each Invisalign aligner is custom-trimmed to match your unique gumline, providing a smooth edge that minimises irritation to your soft oral tissues. Unlike metal braces with protruding brackets and wires that can cause discomfort, ulcers, or cuts to your cheeks and lips, Invisalign’s smooth surface glides gently against your oral mucosa. The precision of the digital design process ensures your aligners fit snugly but comfortably, applying appropriate pressure without unnecessary friction.

Controlled Force Application

Invisalign treatment applies gentle, consistent pressure to move teeth gradually. Each aligner in your series is designed to make small, precise adjustments, typically moving teeth by just 0.25-0.3mm. This incremental approach typically results in less discomfort than the periodic tightening required with traditional braces. Many patients report only mild pressure sensation for a day or two after switching to a new aligner, rather than the more noticeable discomfort often associated with wire adjustments.

Lifestyle Benefits of Removable Aligners

Perhaps one of the most significant advantages of Invisalign is the freedom provided by its removable design, offering practical benefits that fixed braces cannot match.

Unrestricted Dietary Choices

With traditional braces, patients must avoid certain foods that could damage brackets or wires, such as crunchy, sticky, or hard items. Invisalign aligners are simply removed before eating, allowing you to enjoy all your favourite foods without restrictions. This ability to maintain your normal diet adds significant convenience to your orthodontic treatment experience.

Simplified Oral Hygiene Maintenance

Maintaining excellent oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment is crucial but can be challenging with fixed braces. Invisalign’s removable nature allows you to brush and floss normally, without navigating around wires and brackets. This straightforward cleaning process helps reduce the risk of developing plaque buildup, gingivitis, or enamel demineralisation (white spot lesions) that can sometimes occur during traditional orthodontic treatment.

The combination of discreet appearance, enhanced comfort, and lifestyle convenience makes Invisalign an attractive option for many patients seeking orthodontic treatment. Your dentist can help determine if this innovative approach to straightening your teeth is suitable for your specific dental needs and preferences.

Invisalign offers an elegant solution for many people seeking to improve their smile, but determining if this treatment is right for you depends on several factors. Understanding who makes an ideal candidate and what limitations might exist will help set realistic expectations for your orthodontic journey.

Ideal Candidates for Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign can effectively address a wide range of orthodontic issues, making it suitable for many patients seeking straighter teeth and improved bite function. The system has evolved significantly since its introduction, expanding its capabilities to treat increasingly complex cases.

Common Alignment Issues Addressed by Invisalign

Invisalign excels at treating many common orthodontic concerns, including gaps between teeth (diastema), overcrowded teeth, and various bite issues. The system is particularly effective for mild to moderate cases of crowding or spacing and can successfully correct simple to moderate bite problems such as overbites, underbites, and crossbites. For those with these common concerns, Invisalign often provides excellent results with the added benefits of discretion and comfort.

Age Considerations and Treatment Timing

While Invisalign is often associated with adult orthodontic treatment, the system now includes options for younger patients as well. Invisalign First is specifically designed for growing children with mixed dentition (a combination of baby and permanent teeth), while Invisalign Teen includes special features like compliance indicators and eruption tabs for emerging teeth. For adults, Invisalign offers the advantage of discrete treatment at any age, with many patients in their 40s, 50s, and beyond achieving excellent results.

Commitment Requirements for Invisalign Success

The removable nature of Invisalign aligners offers convenience but also requires patient compliance to ensure successful treatment outcomes. Being honest about your lifestyle and habits is important when considering this treatment option.

Wear Time Discipline

For optimal results, Invisalign aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day, removed only for eating, drinking anything besides water, and oral hygiene. This requirement demands a certain level of discipline and commitment. Patients who might struggle to maintain this consistent wear schedule may not achieve the desired results within the projected timeframe. Your dentist will discuss this aspect of treatment to help determine if you can commit to the necessary wear routine.

Oral Hygiene Maintenance

Maintaining excellent oral hygiene is essential during Invisalign treatment. After each meal or snack, you’ll need to brush your teeth before reinserting your aligners to prevent trapping food particles and bacteria against your teeth. This routine requires convenient access to oral hygiene supplies throughout the day. Patients with existing periodontal (gum) issues will need these conditions stabilised before beginning Invisalign treatment.

Clinical Limitations of Invisalign Therapy

While Invisalign technology continues to advance, there are certain orthodontic situations where traditional braces or other treatments might be more appropriate. Understanding these limitations helps set realistic expectations.

Complex Orthodontic Considerations

Very severe malocclusions, significant skeletal discrepancies, or cases requiring substantial tooth rotation or vertical movement may present challenges for Invisalign treatment alone. Certain tooth movements, such as extrusion (moving a tooth downward), intrusion of back teeth, or rotation of rounded teeth like canines, can be more difficult to achieve with aligners. In these complex scenarios, your dentist might recommend traditional braces or a combined approach for optimal results.

Existing Dental Restorations

The presence of certain dental work, such as bridges, implants, or porcelain veneers, may influence Invisalign treatment planning. While these don’t necessarily rule out Invisalign, they create fixed points that cannot move during treatment, requiring careful planning to work around these restorations. Your dentist will evaluate these factors during your consultation to determine if Invisalign can achieve your desired outcome.

A thorough assessment by an experienced Invisalign provider is the best way to determine if this treatment is right for your specific dental situation. Modern advances in the Invisalign system continue to expand its capabilities, making it a suitable option for an increasingly wide range of patients seeking a discreet path to a straighter smile.

Proper care of your Invisalign aligners during treatment and appropriate retention afterwards are essential for achieving and maintaining your beautiful new smile. Following these guidelines will help ensure your aligners remain clear and hygienic throughout your treatment journey and that your results last long-term.

Daily Aligner Care Routine

Keeping your aligners clean, clear, and odour-free requires consistent daily maintenance. A simple but thorough cleaning routine will help your aligners remain virtually invisible and free from harmful bacteria.

Proper Cleaning Techniques

Clean your aligners every morning and evening by gently brushing them with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water, which could warp the plastic and alter the precise fit of your aligners. For more thorough cleaning, you can use Invisalign cleaning crystals or a mild, clear antibacterial soap—never use coloured soaps, which might stain your aligners. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning to remove any soap residue before placing them back in your mouth.

Aligner Storage and Protection

Whenever you remove your aligners, always store them in their protective case to prevent loss or damage. Leaving aligners wrapped in a tissue or napkin is a common way they get accidentally discarded. Keep your case clean by rinsing it regularly with lukewarm water and mild soap. When not wearing your aligners, keep them away from heat sources like hot cars, direct sunlight, or hot beverages, as heat can distort the plastic and compromise their effectiveness.

Maintaining Oral Health During Invisalign Treatment

Excellent oral hygiene is particularly important during Invisalign treatment to prevent dental problems that could compromise your results or require additional treatment.

Thorough Dental Cleaning Practices

Brush your teeth after every meal or snack before reinserting your aligners. This prevents food particles and bacteria from becoming trapped against your teeth, which could increase your risk of developing cavities or gum inflammation. Floss daily to remove interdental plaque and debris that brushing alone cannot reach. The convenient removability of Invisalign aligners allows you to maintain your normal oral hygiene routine without the obstacles presented by fixed braces.

Professional Dental Monitoring

Attend all scheduled check-up appointments with your dentist throughout your Invisalign treatment. These appointments allow your dentist to monitor your progress, address any concerns, and make adjustments to your treatment plan if necessary. Regular professional cleanings during treatment will help remove any calculus (tartar) buildup and keep your gums healthy as your teeth move into alignment.

Post-Treatment Retention Strategies

Once you’ve completed your Invisalign treatment, proper retention is crucial for maintaining your new smile long-term. Without appropriate retention, teeth have a natural tendency to shift back toward their original positions.

Retainer Options and Wearing Protocols

After completing your Invisalign treatment, your dentist will typically provide retainers to maintain your results. These may be removable clear retainers similar to your aligners or fixed wire retainers bonded to the back of your teeth. Initially, you’ll likely need to wear removable retainers full-time for a period determined by your dentist, gradually transitioning to nighttime-only wear. Following your dentist’s specific instructions about retainer wear is essential for preserving your treatment results.

Long-Term Smile Maintenance

Continue with regular dental check-ups and cleanings after your Invisalign treatment is complete. These visits allow your dentist to monitor your retention and address any minor shifts before they become problematic. If you notice any changes in your tooth alignment, contact your dentist promptly—early intervention can often prevent the need for additional treatment.

By following these care guidelines during and after your Invisalign treatment, you’ll help ensure the best possible outcome and enjoy your beautiful new smile for years to come. Your dentist will provide personalised advice based on your specific dental situation and needs.
